After hardships come success

Since it is required to choose a service program, either military training(ROTC) or community service(CWTS) in university, I chose military training. I'd had military training on my fourth year high school. At first, I disliked it and found it too hard continue the harsh trainings given to us, but later, I got interested when we were taught silent drills (rifle drills). I've always wanted to learn how to perform using the rifle. One year time was not enough for us to be taught all kinds of rifle drills and tricks.

Now in university, I chose again the military training to continue to learn more about the silent drills. ROTC was divided to 5 special units, namely the model battalion unit, who performs during ceremonies and performances; the security patrol unit(SP), who is in charge of security in the school premises; the navigators unit, who read and interpret the maps; the medics unit, who aid the wounded cadets, if any; lastly, the MOCC unit, for cadets who want to become officers. I joined the model battalion unit because of the silent drills they offer.

From the name of our unit, the model battalion unit serves as the model to all the other special units. The cadets in this unit should endure harder trainings and should possess skills higher than the others. We have very strict officers who wants to make our performances close to perfect.

This morning, like all saturdays, I woke up at 5:00am and started getting ready for my ROTC class at 6:30. Today's training was unimaginable. Our commander made us do push-ups, pumps, squat rushes, and made us run laps around the standard-sized football field in the campus under the boiling sun. It was so hot that several of my mates fainted and had to be brought out of the field. We were taught how to march--something very hard to perfect. Under the sun, my arms and hands were like bread put in the oven, even my face turned so red after the training. I got tan lines on my arms that were so obvious >.<>.<

to be continued...(cant stop myself from dozing off, got to take a nap :D)
